Plant description “Heating and cooling via a system” – Radiant ceiling heating and cooling – Brine heat pump via earth collectors – Passive (natural) cooling in summer

For the expansion of 3D-Micromac AG at the Technologie-Campus in Chemnitz, an innovative building-technical concept was implemented on the basis of a heat load, cooling load and heat demand calculation

The following components were achieved:

  • Optimal comfort in summer as in winter
  • Maximum energy efficiency with maximum utilization of natural resources

oriented.

This was achieved by combining the following components:

  • Parallel flow through surface temperature in the ceiling installation

    Errichtung einer Heiz-/Kühldecke durch Einbau eines parallel durchströmten Systems in der abgehängten Decken. Die parallele Durchströmung führt hierbei zu einem sehr geringen Druckverlust, so dass sowohl im Heiz- als auch im Kühlbetrieb mit sehr geringen Spreizungen von 2 bis 3 K (= °C) gearbeitet wird. D.h., zum Heizen genügen Vorlauftemperaturen von unter 30 °C und eine effektive Kühlung ist selbst noch mit einem Vorlauf von 20 °C realisierbar.

  • Eine Wärmepumpenanlage, die automatisch zwischen Heizen & passivem Kühlen umschaltet und die bei Bedarf auch aktiv nachkühlt, sobald das Potential passiver Kühlung erschöpft wäre.
  • A GeoCollect trench below the new parking lot with infiltration pavement

    A very compact GeoCollect geothermal heat absorber system, laid in a depth of 1.5 m, consisting of thin, layered, turbulent, highly surface-enhanced plastic discs installed vertically in trenches below the newly created parking areas. Due to the special flow physics combined with the vertical installation, only 7 m² of floor space is required for 1 kW extraction capacity.


The heat of the summer is thus used as a spring for the brine heat pump during the winter, while the cold of the winter is almost free in the summer as a reservoir for passive cooling.

The companies participating in the project are:

  • EIK® – Energiekonzepte & Immobilien Klotzsch GmbH (www.eik-sachsen.de) responsible for the general planning in cooperation with the TGA planner Rainer Franke from Bautzen
  • The company Sanitär-Haase GmbH & Co. KG from Chemnitz (www.sanitaer-haase.de) as an operating company
  • The company EWKtec GmbH (ewktec.com) as a manufacturer of the surface temperature control system and
  • the company GeoCollect GmbH (www.geocollect.de) as a manufacturer of the geothermal energy absorber system.

The energy efficiency of the entire system can be increased later, by retrofitting a photovoltaic system with electricity storage and optimized self-consumption of the heat pump.
